About Suzanne Bohlson
Suzanne Bohlson

Our Friday, April 12th breakfast speaker, referred to us by Steve Barr, president of The Society of Catholic Scientists, is Dr. Suzanne Bohlson. Suzie is currently Professor of Teaching, Molecular Biology and Biochemistry at the School of Biological Sciences at the University of California, Irvine.

She earned her Ph.D. in Biological Sciences at the University of Notre Dame in 2001. As Director of both the Master of Science in Biotechnology and Master of Science in Biotechnology Management programs at UC Irvine, her research interests include biotechnology education, innate immunity, complement, and macrophage activation.

Sounds intimidating? It's not! Suzie's talk on Faith and Academia is filled with stories of her own conversion journey as well as experiences from notable scholars who argue that faith is supernatural, it is borne by grace as proposed by Cardinal Avery Dulles, SJ. and that rational thought alone cannot lead to assent. Suzie interweaves the nature of conversion from noted academics with her own experience in a style that is both easily accessible by lay Catholics and intellectually stimulating.

You won't want to miss her talk!
